Meet Jared M. Jaynes OD, FAAO

Dr. Jared Jaynes HeadshotDr. Jared M. Jaynes is originally from Overland Park, KS, and received his undergraduate degree in Marketing and International Business, with a minor in Biology, from Kansas State University. Dr. Jaynes worked for a prominent healthcare corporation prior to attending optometry school.

He received his Doctor of Optometry degree, with honors, from Southern California College of Optometry. He completed his externships in ocular disease at the Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Santa Fe New Mexico Indian Health Service hospital (IHS), and Lawton Oklahoma IHS.

After graduation, Dr. Jared Jaynes received his residency training in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Southern California College of Optometry. During his residency, Dr. Jaynes focused on management of irregular corneas, anterior segment disease, ocular prosthetics, pediatric contact lenses, and specialty contact lens designs. His contact lens concentration included scleral gas permeable lenses for anterior segment pathology, such as, keratoconus, dry eye syndrome, exposure keratopathy, and post-surgical ectasias. He also received official training in additional specialty lens designs (corneal gas permeable lenses, specialty soft contact lenses, reform eyes for ocular disfigurement, and scleral shell prosthetic lenses).

Dr. Jared Jaynes has been active in continuing education lectures to optometrists in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. His lecture topics included foundations of scleral lens fitting and complex cornea grand round cases. He has served as the National Liaison for the American Optometric Association Contact Lens and Cornea Section (AOA CLCS) and written publications for the AOA CLCS newsletter and Contact Lens Spectrum. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Kansas Optometric Association, and Scleral Lens Education Society.

Dr. Jared Jaynes is a proud dad to three active sons. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing with his kids, exercising, being outdoors and has a special interest in nutrition and fitness.
